SOMETIMES public facilities can set an example. In the case of the airport in Bloemfontein I would say, avoid the food at all costs (a way overpriced, poor selection of uninteresting grub) but do check out the gardens. Just outside the arrivals hall there is some very happy, waterwise, dry climate planting. I just wish the bare patches were covered with mulch or gravel to protect the earth and so that the sand didn’t fly away when it is windy.

Looks good. Pity there’s so much bare soil.

Even odd corners have been well planted

Maybe a local nursery could donate some more bark or pebbles so that the soil is properly covered?
